Welcome to Rajesh Ramachandran Lab

“If there were no regeneration, there could be no life. If everything regenerated there would be no death.”….Richard J. Goss, Principles of Regeneration, (1969)

Rajesh Ramachandran Lab in Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (Mohali) primarily focuses on retina regeneration of Danio rerio (zebrafish). Our primary goal is to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying de-differentiation of Muller Glia cells during retina regeneration. Using zebrafish as a model system, which can regenerate multiple of organs, we try to investigate the genetic and epigenetic factors responsible for successful regeneration of not only retina, but also heart, fin and brain. We also try to validate our findings from zebrafish in other model organisms like mice, chicks and axolotl.
